Nancy Collins, age 66, of Brownwood passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2019, at home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services for Nancy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Heartland Church with Pastor Dawn Smith officiating; burial will follow at Rocky Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Nancy was born on March 30, 1953, to Jesse James and Alma (Weed) Covey in San Antonio. She married Edward Collins Jr. on March 7, 1971, in Bandera, Texas. The two moved to Brownwood in 1993. Nancy was a member of Heartland Church for 26 years; she served as children’s church teacher years ago. She loved her church and pastors, but most of all she loved the Lord and serving him.
Nancy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a great and wonderful mother, who will be greatly missed.
Nancy is survived by her children, Gerald Collins and wife Mary Elizabeth of Brownwood, Jacqueline Gray and husband Joseph of Brownwood, and Bobbi Canning and husband Edmond of TN; daughter-in-law, Lisa Collins; grandchildren, Darrell Collins, Sharla Collins, Carol Collins, Riley Reagor, Jessica Gray, Brandon Collins, Elissa Canning, Allison Canning, Sarah Canning; sister in the Lord, Chris Cox of Gatesville; and 3 brothers, Vernon Covey, Tommy Covey, and Floyd Covey. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and several friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwards Collins Jr.; son, Jesse James Collins; parents, Jesse James and Alma Covey; 4 sisters, Eline Fry, Hazel Farewell, Pat Franklin, and Carol Covey; 2 brothers, Jesse James Covey Jr. and Joe Covey; and brother-in-law, Richard Collins.
