BrownwoodNews – On Thursday, February 21st, 2019 at approximately 1:00pm, members of the Brownwood Police Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Office of the Brown County Attorney, City of Brownwood Code Enforcement, and the State of Texas Comptroller Office, executed an evidentiary search warrant at the Pink Flamingo game room located at 1404 3rd Street in Brownwood. The execution of this search warrant is the result of an ongoing criminal investigation into illegal gambling establishments using sweepstakes, gaming machines, and music download schemes in an attempt to circumvent State of Texas gambling statutes.

The owners and operators of all gaming rooms in Brownwood have been notified in writing by the Chief of Police, Sheriff Vance Hill and County Attorney Shane Britton that these types of games are considered gambling under the State statute. After receiving complaints from citizens about these businesses, law enforcement has been conducting investigations, one of which led to the search warrant at the Pink Flamingo today.
The investigation into the Pink Flamingo as well as other gaming establishments in Brownwood is ongoing. No arrests were made at this time, however criminal charges are anticipated.
