Brownwood News – The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors unanimously approved naming Sunni Modawell as Executive Director.

“Sunni has been a great asset to the Chamber as the tourism director for almost a decade,” said Chamber Board member Debbie Morelock. “She has proven herself as a leader and has made great strides helping tourism and the Chamber grow in the Brownwood area.”

Modawell has been interim executive director since July after being with the Brownwood Chamber for more than 11 years and serving as director of tourism for almost 9 years.

Before joining the chamber staff, she worked as an office administrator for a non-profit organization.

“I am proud to have the opportunity to work with our local businesses” Modawell said. “This is my hometown and I am passionate about helping our area thrive”.

Modawell is a graduate of Early High School and went on to attend Howard Payne University and Tarleton State University.

She has been married to her husband Barry for 7 years and they have two daughters, a son, and 4 grandchildren.
