Brownwood News – The Texas Department of Public Safety released information regarding a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon on the north side of Brownwood. Judy Delosantos Baker, 63 years old of Brownwood, was killed. Her husband, Gary Dan Baker, 62 years old, was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas with serious injuries.

The collision occurred Tuesday just after 4 p.m. along South Highway 279. According to the DPS report, Gary Dan Baker was driving a 2009 Ford Explorer traveling northwest on 279. His wife Judy was the passenger. The Bakers came to a stop at the intersection of 279 and County Road 134. As they turned left, their vehicle moved into the path of a Dodge pickup traveling southeast along 279 and was struck on the right side.
Both vehicles went off the West side of the road, caught fire and burned. Multiple fire departments responded to the grassfire from the collision. Traffic was rerouted in order to allow emergency crews to work the scene. Electricity service was interrupted for a period of time.
Judy Delosantos Baker was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge pickup was transported to Brownwood Regional Hospital with minor injuries. All three occupants involved were wearing seatbelts, according to DPS.
