Brownwood News – According to police reports, a Walmart employee accidentally left her cell phone on a bench after she took a break while working late Tuesday night. When she returned to look for her phone, it was gone.

After work, she picked up her 17-year-old daughter, who was able to track the phone to a residence in the 1700 block of Dallas. The two went to the door inquiring about the phone, and a person inside the home handed them the phone. Once the women realized the SIM card had been removed, they contacted law enforcement.

Two officers arrived on the scene just after midnight. In their report, the officers noted a strong odor of marijuana, and knocked on the door. A young man, identified as 18 year old Zachary Binion, opened the door, and the officers again smelled burning marijuana and were able to see digital scales with what appeared to be a small amount of marijuana on a coffee table.

At that point, Binion attempted to close the door in the officer’s face, but the officer moved forward to prevent the door from closing. Both officers ordered the occupants of the residence to come outside. Additional officers arrived on the scene, and 20 year old Jarrod Mata, admitted to taking cell phone.

After receiving consent to search, officers found items including baggies with 6.1 grams of methamphetamine and marijuana, additional drugs, digital scales, a marijuana grinder and $164 in cash.

The next morning, detectives identified one of those arrested as a suspect in an earlier theft. Believing items stolen in the theft might be at the Dallas Street home, detectives obtained a search warrant and returned to the residence where they located additional marijuana and prescription medication.

The arrested individuals are listed in police records as:

  • Adam Allision, 22, arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.
  • Elijah Jones, 21, arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.
  • Jarrod Mata, 20, arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and theft.
  • Taylor Watson, 19, arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.
  • Zachary Binion, 18, arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and manufacture or deliver of a controlled substance, and possession of a dangerous drug.
  • A 17 year old female arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.
