Sheryl Ann Arthur has passed and is in the service of her Lord. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Lee Haney of Brownwood, her two sons: Byron Haney, his wife Sherri and their four children and Blake Haney, both of Franklin, Texas, her 3 nieces: Allison Cowling, Robin Mason and Angela Zuyus all of Abilene Texas and a mentor and sister-in-heart Diane Danielle Delhomme also of Abilene, Texas.
Sheryl had a propensity for making those who met her feel comfortable and accepted no matter their race, creed or condition. She had a keen appreciation for the extraordinary, a love of art and a fascination for the healing professions. After serving as Drill Team Captain for the Brownwood Lionettes, Sheryl graduated early from Brownwood High School in 1972, she pursued a career in nursing at UTMB and served MD Anderson as a Safety Inspector. She later served the City of Houston as an OSHA inspector, taught defensive driving classes, hosted and planned weddings at the Haney House and spoke at various civic and social functions. She held various positions with the Daughters of the American Revolution, volunteered for the Brownwood Art Association and her church, St. John’s Episcopal. In every case serving with a singular enthusiasm and humor and embracing her love of the performing arts, culture and writing.
Sheryl extensively traveled, finding friends in every corner of the world. With favorite locations in Croatia, Denver and Crete, Sheryl cherished bringing artifacts and souvenirs to her wide range of friends, family and loved ones. She leaves a legacy to her friends and family from her eclectic tastes and arts and music which fostered an appreciation for the same by all those close to her.
Services will be held at St. John’s Church Wednesday at 3:PM for friends and family with a reception afterwards. Sheryl was a proponent of all things memorable and permanent, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the arts or St. John’s Church in her honor.
