Brownwood News – Belen Martinez, 14 years old, was killed in a one-car accident Sunday evening. As news was shared on social media, friends and family remembered her for her “sweet smile,” friendliness, artistic skills, and a love of animals.

According to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the vehicle was traveling east on IH-20 where the left rear tire blew out. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it went into a side skid, slid into the south barrow ditch, and rolled over several times. The incident is currently under investigation.
At least three other passengers in the vehicle were injured. Belen Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body taken to Kiker Seale Funeral Home in Colorado City.

- Passenger: Isabel Gonzalez, 15, of Graham, treated and released from Mitchell County Hospital
- Passenger: Erika Martinez, 13, of Brownwood, not injured or no injury information was provided
- Passenger: Joselyn Renteriaz, 10, of Graham, seriously injured and transported to University Medical Center
