According to a statement from the Texas Department of Safety, Sager was traveling south on FM 1467 where he lost control of a 1998 Ford Pickup towing a trailer. The vehicle went into a side skid across the northbound lane and off of the roadway. The vehicle went through a fence, rolled over and struck a tree. Sager was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
It is possible that a defective tire caused the crash, which remains under investigation.
Kenneth Dean Sager was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood.
