The mobile memorial was designed by Vietnam Veterans who wanted to share the power of the larger memorial in the Nation’s Capitol. The Moving Wall is 252.83 feet long and has 58,315 names listed in chronological order by date of casualty.
An opening ceremony for the wall was held on June 9th at 10 a.m. at the 36th Division Memorial Park, across from the Brownwood Regional Medical Center. A candlelight closing ceremony will be held on June 11th at 7:30 p.m. The wall is open for viewing 24 hours a day, from June 8th to June 12th. Viewing on June 12th will end at 4 p.m.
Volunteers will be at the wall to assist visitors with finding names, and a small rubbing of a name can be done by volunteers.
