Brownwood News – Police Chief Terry Nichols has issued a public statement regarding a shooting incident that occurred over the weekend. The victim in the shooting that took place on Saturday, May 20th in the 300 block of N. Greenleaf Street has been identified as 29-year-old Larry Irvin of Brownwood. Irvin was initially flown to Hendrick Hospital in Abilene and later transferred to a Fort Worth area hospital where he was in critical condition.

Irvin’s family members have shared on social media that he had passed away due to his injuries, but that report is unconfirmed at this point by authorities. Chief Nichols did state that if the victim had passed away, the police department would be working with District Attorney Michael Murray to further update the charges against the suspect.
Preston Dilon Browne, W/M, 25 years of age, was arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence and Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, both Third Degree Felonies. He has also been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a Second Degree Felony. He is currently in the Brown County Jail with a bond set at $600,000.
The ongoing investigation into the shooting of Irvin is being conducted by the Brownwood Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.
