Written by Amanda Coers – The Brownwood Police Department teamed up with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office in a joint investigation that culminated in two arrested on Wednesday near Coggin Park.
Law Enforcement Agents encountered Isidoro Mendez as he sat in a parked car near Coggin Park in Brownwood around 4 p.m. Officers noted a second individual, Amanda Grabast, approaching Mendez on foot. As officers advanced toward the two suspects, Mendez fled on foot and was detained after a brief pursuit. Grabast was arrested without incident.

A search warrant for Mendez’s home on Brady Avenue was granted and officers seized methamphetamine from the residence as well as morphine and body armor, according to Brownwood Police Chief Terry Nichols.
Isidro Mendez, 49, of Brownwood, was booked into the Brown County Jail on charges of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of metal or body armor by a felon, possession of a controlled substance and evading arrest, according to Brown County jail records.
Amanda Grabast, 36, of Brownwood, was booked on two charges of possession of a controlled substance.
Mendez remained jailed Thursday in lieu of bonds totaling $135,000, and Grabast was later released on bonds totaling $20,000.
