The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is investing a case of animal cruelty after a man reported someone cut the head off one of his sheep.
A report from the Sheriff’s Office states: On 1/14/17, at approximately 1050 hours, a deputy responded to a residence on Walnut Street for a Cruelty to Livestock Animal report. The victim advised an unknown suspect cut the head off one of his sheep. The case is still being investigated.
It is a State Jail Felony case of Cruelty to Animals. Under Texas law, a state jail felony may include jail time ranging from 180 days to 2 years and a fine up to $10,000. Conceivably, a person who killed another’s livestock could also be charged with theft or destruction of private property.
For cruelty offenses involving torture, killing, or seriously injuring an animal a state jail felony may be imposed on the first conviction.

Friday, January 13th
*9:23 p.m. Brownwood Police conducted a welfare check near the 1400 block of Coggin Avenue. Officers arrested Timothy Barrow for multiple warrants and Possession of Marijuana.
*10:32 p.m. Brownwood Police located Toni Pinson near the 1600 block of Avenue G. Pinson was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance when officers discovered ecstasy in her possession.
Saturday, January 14th
*12:05 a.m. Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop near the 300 block of West Depot Street. Upon investigation, officers arrested Bobby Ray Fields for Driving While Intoxicated.
*12:13 a.m. Brownwood Police were called to the 600 block of Coggin Avenue regarding suspicious activity. Once on the scene, the officers discovered a party with minors involved. Officers arrested Travis Lee Crouch and Elizabeth Ashlee Swenson for Supplying Alcohol to a Minor. Several minors fled the scene and were detained a few blocks away and later released to their parents. One minor was taken into custody for Failure to Identify and Fleeing the Scene.
*1:31 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Avenue E in reference to an assault. A report has been filed.
Sunday, January 15th
*12:41 a.m. Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop near the 500 block of Pecan Street. After contact with the driver, officers arrested Harley Ashley for Driving While Intoxicated.
Monday, January 16th
*2:02 a.m. Brownwood Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the North Side of Brownwood. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and continued driving. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in a residential neighborhood and the driver, Jason Brewer, was taken into custody. Brewer was charged with Evading Arrest, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
