Rep Mike Lang to Speak at Women’s Club Luncheon

Written by Amanda Coers – District 60 Texas Representative Mike Lang will speak at the Brown County Republican Women’s Club monthly luncheon on Friday, January 13th at 11:30 a.m. at the Brownwood Country Club. Representative Lang will discuss the upcoming 2017 Texas Legislative Session.

You do not have to be a member of Brown County Republican Women’s Club to attend. Cost of the luncheon is $14 per person to be paid at the door. Attendees are asked to RSVP Anne Casas at [email protected] or leave a message at 325-641-2789 by Tuesday, January 11th.

Mike Lang defeated Kevin Downing in the Republican primary race to be the next state representative for District 60, replacing retiring Jim Keffer. Representative Lang will be sworn into office on Tuesday, January 10th.

Lang was raised in Sterling, Illinois, and moved to Texas during his senior year of high school. He attended Texas Christian University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Lang served as a law enforcement officer for 30 years and was elected in 2013 to be the Constable for Hood County. His wife, Katie, currently holds public office as the Hood County Clerk.

During his service in law enforcement, Lang earned numerous awards including the Congressman’s Medal of Valor and the Purple Heart National Law Enforcement Citation. Lang and his wife currently reside in Granbury. The couple has one son, Ryan, who lives and works in Fort Worth as a finance manager.

Mike Lang spoke to the Pecan Valley Republican Women’s Club at its monthly luncheon in June 2016. Lang also helped cut the ribbon at the Grand Opening of the Brown County Republican Party Headquarters hosted by both the Early and Brownwood area chambers of commerce in September 2016.
