The Brown County Youth Fair will be held January 9-14, 2017 at the Brown County Fairgrounds, 4206 Highway 377 South in Brownwood. This year’s youth fair will honor Delton Sweatman for his decades of service. The schedule of events for the fair is posted below:

Weighing/Sifting/Classification and Check-in: 

Wednesday, January 11, 2017

  • Breeding Boer Goat Division – 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • Breeding Sheep Division – 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • Breeding Gilt Division – 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • Rabbits Divisions – 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • Market Swine Division – Starting immediately after Gilts exit to 7:00 p.m.
  • Market Goat Division – 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Market Lamb Division – 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Registered Breeding Heifer Division – 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Market Steer Division – 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m

Judging: Wednesday, January 11, 2017

  • Breeding Boer Goat Division – 8:00 a.m.
  • Breeding Sheep Division – Immediately after Angora Goat Division
  • Breeding Gilt Division – Immediately after Breeding Boer Goat Division
  • Rabbit Division – 3:00 p.m.

Thursday, January 12, 2017

  • Market Lamb Division – 8:00 a.m.
  • Market Goat Division – Immediately after Market Lamb Division

Friday, January 13, 2017 

  • Market Swine Division – 8:00 a.m.
  • Market Steer Division – Immediately after Market Swine Division
  • Registered Breeding Heifer Division – Immediately after Market Steer Division

Saturday, January 14, 2017

  • Horse Division check in – 7:30 a.m.
  • Horse Division judging – 8:30 a.m.

Home Economics Division – Home Economics Building

Monday, January 9, 2017 

  • Acceptance of all Clothing Items (no late items will be accepted) – 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
  • Appearance Judging – 10:00 a.m. Pictures will be taken individually and as a group at this time. These may be used by judge later in day if needed.
  • Fashion Show Practice (Mandatory Participation) will be as soon as each contestant goes before the judge in their last garment or if there is a length of time between garments they may practice then, they must sign off on list when they practice.
  • Construction will be judged after appearance judging and lunch break for judges. Only judges and authorized persons allowed at this time.

Tuesday, January 10, 2017

  • Clothing Division Fashion Show (Mandatory participation) – 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, January 12, 2017

  • Receive Foods, Crafts and Canning entries – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. No late entries will be accepted.
  • Judging of Items – 1:00 p.m.

Friday, January 13, 2017 

  • Viewing of Entries – 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Results posted at Youth Fair Office by 12:00 p.m.
  • Items and Prizes picked up – 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, January 14, 2017 – Awards and Premium Sale 

  • Miss Brown County Fair Association Presentations 5:00 p.m. Followed by: Sale of Home Economics Projects and Sale of Livestock Projects. Premium Sales includes: Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Food, Clothing, Canning, and Craft Divisions (immediately after Miss Brown County Fair Association Awards).
