Freezing Temperatures, Possibly Snow Expected Wednesday Night

Release from the National Weather Service in San Angelo – Much colder conditions are expected to arrive Wednesday night and linger into Friday, with a light wintry mix of precipitation late Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

What to expect:

  1. Much colder air will arrive Wednesday night, accompanied by brisk north winds. Wind chill readings are expected to be in the teens across most of the area for the Thursday morning commute to work and school. highs Thursday afternoon will be in the 30s with wind chill values in the 20s. Early morning lows on Friday are expected to be in the upper teens to lower 20s.
  2. A light wintry mix of precipitation is possible late Wednesday night and Thursday morning across roughly the southern half of west central Texas (south of a Sterling City to Richland Springs line). light rain, light freezing rain and light snow will be possible. Only minor accumulation, if any, is expected. With the precipitation expected to be light and with warm ground temperatures, travel impacts are not expected.
  3. The very cold conditions may threaten pipes, pets left outside, sensitive plants, and particularly cold-sensitive livestock. With the upcoming significant weather changes, people across West Central Texas are encouraged to check later forecasts and updates this week.

Wednesday Night
A slight chance of rain showers before midnight, then a slight chance of rain between midnight and 3am, then a slight chance of rain and snow after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Wind chill values between 19 and 24. Blustery, with a north northeast wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Thursday
Partly sunny, with a high near 35. Breezy, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph.
Thursday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 19. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Friday
Sunny, with a high near 42. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon.
Friday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 31. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
