A Celebration of Life for James Ray Scott, “Low Beam”, will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Crab’s Skeet Range (3060 CR 315 Early, Texas). Private interment will follow at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
James Ray Scott passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 in Temple on his 69th birthday.
James Ray was born to Hugh and Helen (Harris) Scott on June 12, 1947, in Santa Anna. He graduated from Brownwood High School. James Ray served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War for 4 years. He worked for GTE after the military for many years until his retirement.
He bought his first Corvette from Holly Chevrolet in 1968; over the years he has owned 33 Corvettes. James Ray enjoyed taking care of his mother and spending time with her until her passing in 2013. James Ray loved traveling to New Orleans with Jill on Halloween. He also loved his pets, Honey Bear and Maggie Mae.
James Ray is survived by his best friend, Jill Cunningham of Temple; adopted daughters, Shana McCabe of Brownwood, Kailei Carlisle and husband Casey of Brownwood; he is also survived by numerous loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Scott; 2 uncles and one aunt.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Jude’s or Corrine T. Smith Animal Center.
