Robert Arch “Bobby” Thomas

ThomasRichardRobert Arch “Bobby” Thomas went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015 at the age of 89. Visitation will be Saturday, November 28 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 29, 2015, at 2:00 pm in the Blanket First Baptist Church.

Bobby was born to Lindsey and Una Lewis Thomas in Blanket, Texas on August 20, 1926. Bobby married Rita Lloyd on October 15, 1948 after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was stationed in the Pacific on the island of Saipan. He worked in Fort Worth at Convair from 1950 to 1963 before moving his family back to Blanket. Bobby was a farmer and rancher, worked for Driscoll Pipe and operated the 1893 Trading Post in Blanket for almost 40 years. He served the Blanket community as mayor and school board member. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Blanket.

Bobby was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim and Gerald Thomas and sisters Leona Skiles and Jessie Utley. He is survived by his wife, Rita Thomas of Brownwood; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Bing Flanary of Mineola, Barbara and Buck Newsom of Pearsall, son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Dessa Thomas of Blanket; sisters-in-law Billie Thomas of Brownwood and Gyrlee Turner of Big Spring; 9 grandchildren Michael Love, Shayla Kennedy, Barry Thomas, Christi Harris, April Owens, Jason Stubblefield, Mandy Yandell, Josh Stubblefield and Bowdy Thomas; 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff of The Chatfield Assisted Living, CMS Home Health, Gentiva Hospice and Dr. Chris Stephens.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Blanket or to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home, Brownwood, TX.
