Early Police Department investigated the burglary of a home in the 200 block of Hillcrest Drive on Saturday night which resulted in the arrest one, according to Early Chief of Police David Mercer.  The investigation is continuing regarding a second suspect as of Monday morning.

Early Police Department was contacted about the burglary of a residence in the 200 block of Hillcrest Drive at approximately 11:00 p.m. According to the report, the victim had arrived home to discover a window on his door broken and the door was standing open.

Mercer stated that the victim entered the house and observed a female filling a bag with kitchen item and food items.

“When the female saw him she ran out the front door. The victim also observed another female in the hallway who was holding a Chihuahua dog. The female then dropped the dog and ran out the back door,” explained Mercer.  “The homeowner recognized this suspect to be Maria Robledo and recognized the dog she dropped to be hers.”

According to the report, the victim was in the process of moving and had a trailer loaded with items outside the front door, which was missing a washing machine and 2 camera bags.  The food items were dropped by the suspects as they ran out the door, Mercer reported.

While officers were investigating the burglary, Maria Robledo called the Early Police Department and stated the burglary victim needed to come get his stuff from her house because someone was trying to steal it, that she stopped them and put the items in her house, according to the report.  The Officers made contact with Robledo at her residence in the trailer park near the complainant’s home. The suspect, 50-year-old Maria Delores Robledo, was found to be in possession of some of the stolen property including the washing machine and cameras, the report states.  Robledo was subsequently arrested for burglary of a habitation and theft under $1500 and was taken to the Brown County Jail where she was being held on bonds totaling $52,500 as of Monday morning.

The investigation is continuing for the second suspect, according to Chief Mercer.
