Funeral services for Brett Ainsley Coulter, age 61, of Brownwood will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2015 at 2 PM at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Dr. Coulter died Sunday 23, 2015.
Brett was born December 31, 1953 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Irwin Stanley and June Marie (Mow) Coulter. He was raised in Colorado and lettered in both academics and gymnastics in high school. Brett was an Aerospace Engineer in Los Angeles for most of his career; for the past 10 years Brett was a mathematics professor at Howard Payne University. Recently, he served as the director of the Engineering Science Program at Howard Payne University. Brett earned a BS of Engineering Mathematics from Colorado School of Mines in 1976; BS in Civil Engineering from University of Colorado in 1979; MS in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1981 and a PhD in Theoretical & Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois in 1988. He married Laura Kaufmann on June 14, 2008 in Tennessee.
Brett came to saving faith in Jesus Christ as a college student at Colorado School of Mines through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. He loved his Lord, Jesus Christ. He loved his family, students and playing chess. He attended Concord Baptist Church
Those left behind to cherish her memories are his wife, Laura of Brownwood; sister Cindy Berner and husband, Randy of Littleton, Colorado; niece AshleyWatikai and husband, Orim and their son, Joshua; nephew, Colby Berner and wife, Natalie; several cousins, doting parents-in-law and many caring colleagues and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Howard Payne University or Campus Crusade for Christ.
