Funeral services for Harvey Joe Singleton, age 78, of Joshua, Texas formerly of Fort Worth will be held 2:00 PM Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Heartland Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bangs Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Singleton passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 in Burleson, Texas.
Harvey Joe was born on July 28, 1936 in Mills County, Texas to Julius Lee and Annie Marie Henderson Singleton and lived there until the age of 9. He then moved to Newburg for 3 years where he attended a small school that had 6 grades in one room. At the age of 14 the Newburg school closed and he attended school in Comanche. Later he moved to Early and completed his schooling there. On, May 26, 1960 he married Emma Louise Johnson in Brownwood. Harvey was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Brownwood. Harvey was an electrician for Lockheed Aircraft plant in Ft. Worth and retired in 2000. Later on he returned to being a regular electrician and worked many more years working for IBEW union retiring after 50 years of service. He had resided in Joshua since 1980 and had previously lived in Fort Worth. Harvey was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spoiling his grandkids and great-grandkids. He also helped people with his many talents. Harvey will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Emma Louise Singleton of Joshua; son Eddie Joe Singleton and wife Susan of Fort Worth; daughter Reana Howery and husband Randy of Joshua; grandchildren Amanda Warren and husband Jeff, Clayton Singleton and wife Amber, Chris Howery and wife Lisa, Randi Howery and Fiance’ Jason Shelton, Kassie Fearrin and husband Walter; 11 great grandchildren; sister Laneta Keeton Carroll and husband David of Brownwood;; sister-in-law Kassie Singleton of Lampasas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jay and Marie Singleton and two brothers James Lloyd and Calvin Gene Singleton; brother-in-law Charlie Keeton and sister-in-law Patsy Johnson.
