Texas Department of Transportation’s “Talk, Text, Crash” campaign is making a stop in Brownwood to remind area drivers to put away their phones and refrain from other distractions while driving. A unique display will be on display at the Brown County Museum of History at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22.
In 2014, distracted-driving crashes were up 6 percent over the previous year. In Brownwood, there were 64 motor vehicle crashes in 2014 due to distracted driving.
Distracted driving crashes killed 483 people, injured more than 3,000 in Texas last year. Because of this, a car-sized smartphone that appears to have been damaged in a car crash is being towed on a wrecker against the backdrop of the Brown County Museum of History (formerly the historic Brown County Jail).
The Brown County Museum of History is located at 212 N. Broadway Street in Brownwood.
