Ervin Glenn Wilson

WilsonErvinErvin Glenn Wilson, 85, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Care Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Early, TX. He was born on August 26, 1929 in Happy, TX to E.M. “Red” Wilson and Edna Louise (Rogers) Wilson. Ervin was the oldest of the three sons.

Ervin grew up in Happy, TX. He attended Happy High School and graduated in1947. Ervin served two tours in the US Army the second being during the Korean War. He was a Drill Sargent upon leaving the service.

After leaving the service Ervin went on to have several occupations, a policeman in Amarillo TX, a barber in Austin, TX and then having his own barber shop in Happy, TX. Long hair took it’s toll on the barber business so Ervin went on to other endeavors, a carpenter, electrician, and plumber. Ervin was well known in Happy, Goldthwaite, Comanche and Hamilton TX.

Ervin married Esperanza “Hope” Navarrette in 1959 in Georgetown, TX. They were happily married for 53 years.  Ervin was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hamilton, TX until going to Care Nursing. He was a member of the American Legion and Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and spending time with his family.

Ervin was preceded in death by his wife Hope Wilson; parents Red and Edna Wilson; and his brother Charles Benton Wilson.

Ervin is survived by his brother and his wife Darrell (Joyce) Wilson of Brownwood, TX; daughter and husband Glenda (Terry) Thompson of Pflugerville, TX; son and his wife Edward (Joyce) Wilson of Spring, TX; son Michael Wilson of Hamilton, TX; foster son and his wife Curtis (Connie) of Palmer, TX; his grandchildren Jeffrey (Stella) of Bear, DE and Stephen (Evette) of Austin, TX, his great-grandchildren Sebastian, Shelby, Jacklyn and Jefferson of Bear, DE; and Mara of Austin, TX; and his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.

A memorial service was held at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, 800 Center Ave, Brownwood, TX on May 1, 2015. Condolences for the family may be left online at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
