Over fifty Latter-Day Saints youth from West Texas will spend part of their Spring Break this weekend in Brownwood, Texas volunteering to spruce up the Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat. Youth, ages 14-18, will descend on the retreat in grubby clothing ready to offer manual labor, many driving up to two hours to attend. LDS youth from San Angelo, Abilene, Sweetwater, Brady, Comanche, and Eastland will participate.
Carrie Lunt, an LDS youth leader stated, “We are excited to bring our youth back to Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat to give some service because they provided such an excellent location for our Youth Conference last summer. We were able to enjoy the lake and great facilities at the retreat, and now we can give back by improving the facilities for groups like ours to use in the future.”
The youth will be painting fence posts and building benches to use around the fire pit on the property. Lunt adds, “They will feel a sense of accomplishment as they learn new skills and see the projects come together. At the end of the day, I hope they feel good about doing something to give back to some friends in Christ.”
