Funeral services for Myra Jayne (Fuller) Hickey will be Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church in Blanket. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to7 PM at Heartland Funeral Home Early, Texas. Interment will be at the DFW National Cemetery Dallas, Texas.
Mrs. Hickey was born December 14, 1934 in Brownwood to Henry and Cora Mae Thorp Fuller. She died at 8:10 AM Monday, December 8, 2014 surrounded by her family at the Hendricks Medical Center Abilene, Texas. Jayne married Robert Hickey from Liberal, Kansas September 1, 1952. She attended Brownwood High School until the 11th grade. She graduated from Liberal High School in Kansas in 1953. She briefly attended Howard Payne University.
During her life, Jayne dedicated herself to her home and children, supporting her husband through many moves-Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Washington, D.C., Puxico, Missouri, Indiahoma, Oklahoma, Sterling Park, Virginia, and Atlanta, Georgia. One of her greatest joys was a church that began in her home while she lived in Minnesota.
Jayne and her husband retired to Blanket, Texas in 1981 where they tended a small farm of cows, chickens, and an orchard. Jayne had numerous interests. She sold Avon for 34 years, painted, was a seamstress, a craftswoman, and an inveterate correspondent. She loved flowers, nature, music, and to travel. She was a member of the Gideon’s Women’s Auxiliary for 15 years. Her most beautiful legacy was her love for people and the Lord. She never knew a stranger.
She is survived by her spouse of 62 years, her daughters Peggy Hickey, Julia and husband Jimmy Jones, Michele and husband David Yount, Kathleen Hickey; her son William and wife Kellie Hickey. She is also survived by her sister Melba Musick, 13 grandchildren, 6 plus great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Cora Mae Fuller; her sisters Mitzi Thixton,
Creola Funderburk, and Peggy Mae Fuller; her brother David Fuller and her daughter Patricia Golden.
Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, you are missed.
