The Early In Action Community Group will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Doc’s Drugstore in Early. The Early in Action Community Group is open to the public and offers the opportunity to meet potential customers, clients, employers, friends or learn something new about an organization or business in town. This month’s guest speaker is Marquis (Marcus) D. Robertson with C.A.S.A.
Marquis was born on December 26, 1941 in Shreveport, LA. After graduating from South Houston High School in May of 1960, he attended Howard Payne University from 1960 to 1965 and served as a Baptist Minister for 10 years.
Marquis worked for the State of Texas in Law Enforcement with Texas Parks and Wildlife and then for the Texas Youth Commission for 15 years. He moved to Brownwood in 1984 and opened and operated Video Connection and Candies, Nuts, Etc. business in Heartland Mall from 1985 through 1995.
Marquis was employed 13 years at New Horizons Children Ranch as a Daytime Program Director/Chaplin. He has been serving as a volunteer recruiter/trainer since January 2009 for C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for children in the Heart of Texas, INC. Marquis philosophy is “love God, my family, United States of America and C.A.S.A.”
