The Early High School Band held its annual banquet earlier in May to cap off an outstanding year. At the banquet, directors, band members, parents, family, and friends reminisced on the successes of the year and about the great time that was had with each other.
Additionally, the awards for the year were given out and the 2014 graduating class was recognized. This EHS Band senior class will graduate as one of the most decorated band senior classes in the history of Early High School.
Several EHS band members were honored with awards as follows:
Outstanding Class Awards – these students were recognized for their outstanding musical achievement and contributions to the 2013-2014 EHS Band.
Freshmen – Eric Diehl, Kassidy Holland, Collin Phillips, Courtnie Smith

Outstanding Marchers – These students were recognized as the outstanding marchers for the year. This award was chosen by the members of the band.

Longhorn Spirit Award – This award is given to a student that shows selfless service, positive attitude, and outstanding dedication to the EHS Band.

Louie Armstrong Jazz Award – Alan Cornelio
This award is given to recognize the top Jazz Band student at high schools across the nations. It is given in recognition of outstanding achievement by an instrumentalist in the field of jazz, as demonstrated through superior musicianship, character and individual creativity.
John Philip Sousa Award – Chris Martin
This is the highest award that a high school band can bestow on a student. It is a national award and is given to one person each year. It is given in recognition of outstanding achievement and interest in music, for singular merit in loyalty and cooperation, and for displaying those high qualities of conduct that school instrumental music requires.
