Jewel “Tex” Ferguson, 65, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 15, 2013 after a lengthy illness. She was born January 14, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to John and Ruby Ferguson. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Ferguson, sister Patsy Jo Pitman, brother John Ferguson, Jr., brother-in-law John Rhodes and niece Vicky Lynn Ferguson and nephew Johnny Ferguson. She lived in Bangs for 27 years.
Tex is survived by Joy Rhodes, Dovie Cox and husband Gary, Tommie Ferguson, and Sue Pitman. Numerous nieces and nephews to include Dewayne and the late Gena Tyler and children; Misty and Deen Hopson, Katie and Trey Green and children, Christy and Gary Acebedo and children, David Tyler and son Jared Tyler and children, Debra Tyler and children Brandi Van Auken and Jimmy Fortney and children, Seth and Amy Pitman and children Jordan and Hunter Pitman, Tracie and Jeff Carrigan and children Misty Nelson and son Chase Nelson, and Felicia Ferguson, Amy Ferguson, and Robert Ferguson.
A Celebration Service of Tex’s life will be conducted at First Baptist Church in Bangs, Texas Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers or plants, bouquets of balloons of multiple colors may be sent from the Card & Party Factory or memorial gifts in honor of Tex Ferguson may be made to New Day Orphanage in Zambia, Africa c/o FBC Bangs, P.O. Box 520, Bangs, Texas 76823. Jewel Tex Ferguson served in the US Army for 12 ½ years and was medically retired. She then worked at TYC in Brownwood for 19 ½ years. Military Honors will be conducted with a balloon release after her service. Friends and extended family are invited to attend.
