The Brownwood Rotary Club is sponsoring a community Blood Drive Wednesday, July 17th from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30p.m. United Blood Services will be in the Bloodmobile in front of Ag Mart located at 2400 HWY 377 S.
According to officials at UBS, their facility and most others in the area, are in need for O negative blood. UBS reports that about 40% of the population is eligible to donate but only about 5% of the population actually does.
The public is asked, “Find the hero in you and give the gift of life. Remember, blood that is donated at a United Blood Services blood drive stays in the community.”
To schedule an appointment, click here or call United Blood Services at 800-756-0024. Donor incentives include a free cholesterol screen, Chick-fil-A coupon, points in the Hero In Me program, and pet owners will receive a goodie bag from Ag Mart.
Those wishing to donate must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have a Minor Donor Permit (can be found online) signed by parent or guardian.
Donors are asked to bring a photo ID and donor card every time they donate. First-time donors will receive a card with their blood type in the mail shortly after their first donation.
United Blood Services has been this area’s nonprofit community blood provider since 1956, and serves patients in 10 hospitals in 11 counties. The United Blood Services network is one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit blood service organizations, and is a founding member of America’s Blood Centers and the AABB (formerly the American Association of Blood Banks).
