Johnnie L. Hoisington, age 83, of Bangs, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 in a Brownwood hospital. Graveside funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Mukewater Cemetery in Brown County with Rev. Jim Maxwell officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
She was born Johnnie Louise Cheesman on February 14, 1930 in Menard, Texas, one of ten children of John Cheesman and Lillie Honeycut Cheesman. She lived in Menard until the age of eight, when she moved with her family to Bangs. She attended school at Chapel Hill and Mukewater. On December 17, 1945 she married Paul Hoisington, Sr. in Paint Rock, Texas. She and her husband owned and operated Hoisington Exxon Service Station in Bangs as well as a barbeque restaurant. She was a member of Trinity Chapel in Early.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Hoisington, Sr. of Bangs; three children, Paulette Shipp of Lake Brownwood, Nellie Kramer of Bangs and Paul Hoisington, Jr. and wife Alice of Bangs; two sisters, Mary Cobb and Irene Cheesman; three brothers, Jimmy Cheesman, Rev. Joe Cheesman and Larry Cheesman; six grandchildren, William Prist, Teresa Horton, Vickie Hubert, John Kramer and Kameron Hoisington; several great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, George Ellison and four sisters.
Family visitation will be held on Monday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
