KitchenSinkLocal musical group Kitchen Sink will be performing at Common Grounds Coffee House, located at 2208 Austin Avenue in Brownwood, Friday, from 5-8 PM.

The group is somewhat a spontaneous creation, put together for an act at the Brownwood Reunion Celebration.  Founder, Aaron McNeeley is the music minister at New Life Assembly of God and was asked if he had a band that could play at the Reunion about two years ago, which was their first “gig.”

Aaron’s wife, Rowana, explained how the band came to be named, “The name of the band was thought up on the spot. They called and asked Aaron for their band name and said they needed it in about 10 minutes so they could get the sign list in. Aaron called the group together and all they could keep coming up with was ‘Kitchen Sink.’ They decided on Kitchen Sink because of the mix of songs and styles that they sing.”

Kitchen Sink’s performances feature a mix of blues, Christian, classic rock and some of their own original songs.

Aaron has been involved in music for more than 25 years.  His musical influences are from the 80s and 90s.  His daughter Moriah McNeeley moved to Brownwood two years ago to be near her dad and is a part of the band.  She loves jazz music and musicals and has been singing most of her life.
