Keffer to Speak at Chamber Luncheon June 21st

KefferHeadshotState Representative Jim Keffer will be the guest speaker at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon on Friday, June 21st at the Brownwood Country Club from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.  Keffer will outline the accomplishments of the recent legislative session and talk about the current special session that is in progress.

The luncheon, which is open to members and guests, and will feature an interesting program and will also include door prizes, introduction of new members and the “Aces Wild” Cash Drawing—which features a guaranteed winner each month.

State Representative Jim Keffer is a conservative small business owner and lifelong Republican. Jim and his wife, Leslie, first met at a church summer camp in East Texas. This year, they will be celebrating their 37th wedding anniversary and have 3 grown sons and two grandchildren. As president of EBAA Iron Sales, Inc., Jim is one of the largest employers in his community. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University, and represents House District 60 which encompasses Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Eastland, Hood, Palo Pinto, Shackelford and Stephens Counties. In 1997, he became the first Republican to represent District 60. And has won overwhelming reelections ever since.

Jim currently serves as Chairman of the Texas House Committee on Energy Resources. He also serves on the Natural Resources Committee, Redistricting Committee and Texas House Republican Caucus. Keffer has previously served as chairman of other House committees including: Ways and Means, Economic Development, and the Select Committee on Property Tax Relief.

Jim has received numerous awards such as the Texas Association of Business “Champion of Free Enterprise Award”. Additionally, he has been named one of the best members of the legislature by Texas Monthly, Capitol Inside, and the legislative news service Gallery Watch. Jim has also given generously with his time in the community. He has served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher in the First Baptist Church of Eastland, Past President of the Eastland Little League and is active with economic development through his local Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber luncheon is sponsored by the Bruner Auto Group. Door prizes are sponsored by Baird Brothers Express Car Wash, Brookshire’s Food Store, Dumas Portraits, Elliott Electric Supply, Joe Sheppard Designs and Trees Forever Nursery.
