Three men arrested related to the burglary at Higginbotham Brothers in Brownwood last weekend were transferred from Eastland County to the Brown County Jail Thursday and are being held on bonds totaling $200,000 each.

According to Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller and jail records, 32-year-old Alfonso Hernandez-Darden, 36-year-old Jose Hernandez-Irriaza and 23-year-old Immer Jonathan Perez-Najera, all from Mexico, are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity (Brown County), theft of property equal or greater than $100,000 less than $200,000 and engaging in organized criminal activity (Commanche County).

The three men were arrested after two vehicles and roofing materials were stolen from Higginbotham Brothers over the weekend.  The business and police were notified of the theft after Rising Star Police made a traffic stop on one of the stolen vehicles in the early morning hours Sunday.

According to the Brownwood Police report, the driver of the stolen flat bed truck fled the scene at the time of the traffic stop.

At approximately 3:29 a.m. on Sunday, May 19th, Brownwood Police were dispatched to 1500 Center Avenue, Higginbotham, at the request of Rising Star Police Department to investigate the scene.   Dispatch informed the officers that Rising Star Chief of Police had three other suspects detained.

Upon the officer’s arrival at the business, the lock to the gate to the property was found cut and the gate was open.  The back door to the store was unsecure and no signs of forced entry were observed on the door.  Police and the store manager discovered that two store vehicles were missing, a white flatbed pickup and a yellow freightliner truck, along with 121 packages of laminate roofing shingles.  The report states that it appears someone used a forklift at the property to load the shingles into the vehicle.

The report stated that four subjects were arrested and booked into Eastland County Jail on Monday, May 20th related to the crime, and three of those were transferred to Brown County Jail on May 23rd.

Sunday, May 19

*4:41 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of E. Commerce regarding a hit and run.  According to the report, the suspect, a white male, was driving a white pickup, struck a parked 2006 Ford Mustang and then fled the scene without reporting the accident.

Wednesday, May 22

*4:17 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart, 401 W. Commerce, regarding theft.  According to the report, a loss prevention employee had received information from an anonymous source that an employee had stolen merchandise from the store.

*4:23 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 600 block of 3rd Street regarding possession of marijuana.  An investigation was begun regarding a Marlboro black box containing marijuana, according to the report.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by telephone by the owner of a business in Zephyr requesting a trespass warning be issued to a former employee of the business.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by telephone regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the owner of the home stated that his daughter had taken several items from his residence located at Old Lane and he wished to file criminal charges against her.  The burglary had taken place on April 26, 2013, the report states.

Thursday, May 23

*12:00 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of N. Center Avenue regarding the theft of a green Hastings shopping bag.

*8:00 AM – Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of hindering a secured creditor from Longhorn Auto Sales.

*9:57 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center regarding an assault that had taken place in the county.  According to the report, the deputy met with a 38-year-old female who had visible injuries consistent with having been assaulted.  Hospital personel stated that the victim had reported being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, but the victim would not give any other information and would not cooperate with the investigation, the report states.

*11:00 AM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding theft.  This call led to the arrest of 52-year-old Felix Trevino, Jr. on charges of theft equal or greater than $50 and less than $500.

*12:15 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Avenue B regarding a disturbance.  According to the report, the complainant stated that his roommate threatened to harm him if he called the police.

*2:28 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 6000 block of Airport Road regarding disorderly conduct.  According to the report, the call led to the arrest of 25-year-old Joshua Caperton for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 greater than 4 grams less than 200 grams and criminal trespass.

*3:04 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding theft.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was contacted regarding animal cruelty at a home on County Road 205.  According to the report the owner had left the house with all of her belongings, including five dogs which were uncared for.  The caller reported that one of the dogs had died and four others were malnourished, the report states.  The brother of the owner arrived on scene and stated that he would dispose of the dead dog’s carcass and would care for the other animals or take them to the animal shelter.

*4:18 PM – Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding harassment.  An investigation is underway according to the report.

*6:33 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart regarding theft.  According to the report, a female suspect had attempted to leave the store with $17.74 worth of merchandise; however, she was detained by loss prevention.  The female was issued a citation for theft and then left the area.

*6:44 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of LaMonte Drive regarding theft.  According to the report, four tire rims were stolen from the location.

*7:16 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of 7th Street regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown person had entered the residence and stolen two pit bulls that were inside the residence.

*7:29 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of E. Commerce Street regarding an unwanted person.  According to the report, the owner of the business requested a criminal trespass warning be issued to the unwanted person.

*Early Police arrested 62-year-old William Bing Wallace for possession of drug paraphernalia.
