Jackie Darrel Alley, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, age 62 went to be with the Lord on Monday April 8, 2013, at his home in Brownwood. Services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday April 11, 2013, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home with Lyn Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Tarleton Cemetery in Palo Pinto County. Visitation will be from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Davis-Morris. Pallbearers will be Gary Thomason, Danny Matthews, Joe McClusky, Ben Smith, Amy Moody and Shirley Kemmitz. Honorary pallbearer will be Scottie Earp.
Jackie was born on September 25, 1950, in Brownwood to Jack “Big Jack” and Willa Clifton Alley and lived here his entire life. He graduated from Brownwood High School and was an “All Around” athlete who played on the Lions 1967 State Championship Football team, was the lead- off man on the mile relay team that finished 2nd at the 1968 State Championship and was active with FFA. Jackie worked for many years at 3M and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and reading. He was married to Judith Little on October 5, 2002, in Selden, Texas. Jackie was the former president of the Central Texas Soccer Association and touched the lives of many young people that he mentored thru sports. He was a great husband, father and friend who would do anything to help those he loved.
Jackie is survived by his wife, Judith Alley of Brownwood; children, Jeremie Alley and wife, Julie of Katy, Texas, Joshua Alley of Brownwood and Rickie Smith and husband Sam of Little Rock, Arkansas; sister, Connie Hopper-Hubbard and husband Charles of Brownwood; mother-in-law, Betty Little of Midland, Texas; niece, Brandi Stanley and husband John of Brownwood; great niece, Mattie Jane Stanley “the light of his life”, of Brownwood, four grandchildren and numerous other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and their families.
