The 2013 Bluebonnet Relays are scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, starting at noon each day at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Track and field events will bring athletes from 1A-5A schools to compete against each other in various events. Even elementary school children will have a chance to taste the thrill racing on the track. Second graders will take on the 400M run; third graders will compete in the 800M run, and sixth graders will get a taste of the mile run.
This year’s relay will feature three divisions pitting Brownwood High against 4A and 5A schools in Division I. Division II will be 1A and 2A schools. Division III will be made up of Junior Varsity from all size classifications. Races will start with Division III, followed by Division II and then Division I.
Friday
The boys 3200M run and field events of discus, shot put, pole vaulting, high jump, long jump and triple jump will kick off Friday’s competition at noon, followed by the girls running events starting at 1:00 PM.
Elementary races of 400M, 800M and 1600M begin at 3:30 PM.
Girls’ field events along with boys running prelims get underway at 4:30 PM. After these events a thrower’s relay and the girls’ 3200M run finish up Friday’s schedule.
