Strong winds through the area are bringing not only colder weather, but also causing damage as they roll through.
At approximately 1:00 PM, Brownwood emergency dispatcher received a call stating that the emergency sirens at Main Blvd and Walnut Street had blown down.
When police and city crews arrived on scene, they found the pole snapped at ground level and the sirens at the top of the pole tangled in utility lines at the intersection (pictured above). Officials at the Brownwood Regional Airport confirm wind gusts have been from 35-45 mph so far.
The current weather conditions at 1:38 p.m. were 44° F. with gusts at 37 mph, giving a wind chill that feels like 35° F. Windy conditions with gusts up to 55 mph are forecast to continue and will drop the temperature to approximately 38° F. overnight.
