A benefit account has been set up for Brenya Simental to help her family with expenses incurred with her hospitalization and treatment after she was involved in a one-vehicle rollover accident on September 27th.
Friends have set up the “Brenya Simental Benefit Account” at TexasBank in Brownwood where donations are being received to help the family with expenses while they stay at her side during her treatment at Dallas Parkland Hospital. Simental is reported to still be sedated, has spoken to family briefly, and is said to be out of ICU but has a long road of recovery ahead of her according to a close family friend.
Simental and her friend Miranda Elizondo, both 18, were traveling toward Early on Hwy 183S, when the accident occurred at approximately 7:40am that Thursday morning. Both girls were ejected from the Isuzu Trooper. The vehicle had reportedly swerved off of the road, then the driver overcorrected causing it to rollover. Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Chris Delgado investigated the accident and stated that the vehicle flipped 3 ¼ times. Simental was airlifted to Hendrick Hospital in Abilene and then transferred by air to Dallas Parkland to receive more specialized care for her head injury according to friends.
The condition of Miranda Elizondo was not available at this time; however Elizondo was flown to in Fort Worth immediately after the accident where she continues to receive care in the trauma unit of John Peter Smith Hospital.
