The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in cooperation with the City of Brownwood will conduct a public hearing at TxDOT’s Brownwood District office Oct. 1 to discuss proposed improvements to FM 2524 (Austin Avenue).
The proposed project would include storm drain, bridge widening at Willis Creek, sidewalks, curb and gutter, ADA ramps and widened pavement to accommodate four lanes from Brooks Street to Norwood Street.
The public hearing will begin with an open house at 6 p.m. followed by a formal presentation at 7 p.m. at the district office located at 2495 Highway 183 North in Brownwood. A public comment period will follow the formal presentation.
Project staff will be available to answer questions. The environmental document, project exhibits, maps and design drawings will be available for review during the open house. This information, along with the tentative schedule for construction, is available by appointment for review and copying at the TxDOT Brownwood District Office.
The hearing is open to all interested citizens. Those who have special communication or accommodation needs should contact Tamara Cope at (325) 643-0448 at least one week prior to the public hearing. TxDOT offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding state holidays. Since the public hearing will be conducted in English, any requests for language interpreters or other special communication needs should also be made at least one week prior to the public hearing. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.
Oral and written comments about this project may be presented at the hearing and for a period of 10 days after the hearing. Written statements may also be submitted in person to the TxDOT Brownwood District Office; mailed to the Director of Transportation Planning and Development, TxDOT Brownwood District Office, 2495 Highway 183 North, Brownwood, Texas 76802; or emailed to [email protected].
