Saturday, August 13
*7:00pm-Brown County Sheriff’s office responded to an accident involving a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the North Lake Brownwood area. According to BCSO officials, the 31-year-old victim had bruising to his legs and was taken to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. BCSO investigators stated that the suspect is known; however no arrest had been made as of Tuesday August 16th because the investigation is ongoing. Warrants for multiple charges against the suspect are being obtained.
Monday, August 15
*9:15am-Brownwood Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 700 block of Wood Avenue. According to the report, a complainant stated that a female, identified as 24-year-old Tiffany Newman, was hitting her own husband’s vehicle with a wrench. Upon officers’ arrival, a male and Newman were found to be arguing in the driveway, and officers separated the two. According to the report, the male stated that his estranged wife had busted the windshield of his vehicle with a wrench, broken into the residence and then assaulted him because she thought he was cheating on her. According to police, all parties advised the officer of the same series of events and Newman admitted to the acts. Newman was arrested for Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit Assault, Assault with Injury Family Violence and Criminal Mischief.
*1:32pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of Fisk Avenue, HPU Jennings dormitory parking lot, regarding criminal mischief. The driver’s side window of a vehicle had been shattered. No suspect information was available at the time of the report. The investigation is ongoing.
*6:08pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2600 block of Temple Avenue regarding criminal mischief. The complainant stated that sometime between 9:00am August 13 and 5:30pm August 15 an unknown suspect broke a window of the complainant’s residence. The estimated damage was approximately $100.
*6:11pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart regarding theft. According to the report, loss prevention employees observed 39-year-old Daryle Eugene Dumas and Tiffany Nicole Berkley acting nervously in the hardware department of the store. Dumas was reported to have concealed items while Berkley acted as a look out, the report states. Both suspects walked past the point of sale and did not attempt to pay for the items. Dumas and Berkley were placed under arrest for Theft over $50.
*11:45pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart regarding theft. Loss prevention employees had detained a woman they observed putting on a pair of flip flops and conceal a wallet in her purse. The amount of the items stolen was $16.98. The woman was issued a citation for theft and a criminal trespass warning for all Wal-Mart properties.
Tuesday, August 16
*3:50am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Vine Street regarding criminal mischief. The complainant stated that an unknown suspect had damaged the rear passenger door handle of her vehicle.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
