*5:57pm-Brownwood Police responded to a burglary of a habitation in the 1200 block of 1st Street. An entry point was located and a possible suspect has been listed. An investigation is underway.
Thursday, July 28
*8:36am-Brownwood Police met a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that he had purchased a vehicle off of EBay and had been instructed by the seller (who is located in Glasgow, Michigan) to send funds of $2695 via money gram to an agent in New York
, New York. The complaint followed the instructions and has not had any further communication with the seller since he purchased the vehicle on July 22nd, the report states. Copies of emails, EBay listing and payment instructions were provided as evidence.
*10:06am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding criminal mischief. The complainant stated between the hours of 2:30am and 9:00am, someone had sliced two tires of her vehicle. The approximate value of the tires is $200 each.
*1:08pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of Avenue D regarding found property. The complainant reported that someone had placed a bicycle in the backyard of his residence. The bicycle was taken to the impound at the Brownwood Police Department.
*6:40pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401 W. Commerce regarding theft. According to the report, a Wal-Mart loss prevention employee advised a known suspect, a 26-year-old woman, was caught shoplifting several items from inside the store. Due to extenuating circumstances, the suspect was released from the scene with a warrant being sought for her arrest for Class B Theft ($50<$500), the report states.
*6:41pm-Brownwood Police received a report of an assault which allegedly occurred at 12:30am that day. According to the report, the complainant identified a known suspect as the offender. The complainant had no visible injuries and refused any medical treatment, the report states.
*6:55pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Lee regarding theft. The complainant stated that two known suspects had stolen a window unit air conditioner from her old apartment in the 1900 block of Coggin Avenue before she was able to move it to her new residence.
*7:32pm-A Brownwood Police officer, while on patrol, was stopped by a complainant who reported a stolen bicycle. The complainant took the officer to his residence in the 2100 block of Avenue E where the bicycle was stolen and showed him an identical bicycle, which was one of two bikes he had bought for his sons. According to the report, the incident occurred between the hours of 6:00pm July 27th and 7:00pm on July 28th. There were no known suspects at the time of the report and the complainant was advised to check with the Brownwood Police Department impound.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
