Sheriff Bobby Grubbs reports that a drug surveillance operation at a Brownwood city park resulted in two teenage drug arrests for possession of marijuana and evidence supporting possible marijuana distribution.
According to Grubbs, Captain Tony Aaron along with Investigator Jason Benefield of the Brown County Sheriff’s Office were conducting surveillance in the Coggin Park area Thursday afternoon when they observed suspicious activity that led to the arrest of two individuals and what is expected to result in the arrest of several more after further investigation.
Deputies observed a black Lincoln Town Car, occupied by three individuals, stop and park in the parking lot of Coggin Park. Once the vehicle was parked, the occupants remained in the vehicle as if they were waiting on someone to arrive according to Grubbs. Within a very short time, a red Chevrolet pickup arrived, and the driver of the pickup got out and walked to the driver’s side of the Lincoln. There was a very brief conversation and an exchange between the two people Grubbs said. Both vehicles then immediately began to leave, and deputies recorded the license plate of the pickup and followed the Lincoln. Deputies stopped the Lincoln and identified two of the occupants, 19-year-old Luis Alvarado as the driver, and 18-year-old Patrick Holeman who was the front seat passenger.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and marijuana as well as a marijuana smoking pipe was located in the vehicle. Evidence supporting marijuana distribution was also located Grubbs said. Alvarado and Holeman were arrested for Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free Zone under 2 oz. Deputies have identified more suspects in this investigation and anticipate locating and arresting the source of supply in the marijuana distribution Grubbs said.
