Funeral Services for Roy Lee Hughes, age 74, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday February 17, 2011 at Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brown County with Tom Washburn officiating, interment to follow at Eastlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.  He passed away Tuesday February 15, 2011 in Brownwood.

Roy was born on September 05, 1936 in Gorman, Texas to George and Delpha Hughes.  He married Lue Hughes on June 14, 1963 in Verdi, Texas.  Roy was a member of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ and was a volunteer associate Chaplain at Havins Unit in Brownwood, Texas. Roy was a wonderful husband and a loving grandfather; he also enjoyed polishing rocks, and making jewelry.

Roy is survived by his wife Lue Hughes of Brownwood, one son, Roy Lee Hughes Jr. and wife Dianne, also grandchildren Colton and Regan Hughes of Corpus Christi, Texas.  One daughter, Karen Watkins and husband Mike, also grandchildren Katie, Mikey and Chelsea Watkins of Graham, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents George and Delpha Hughes.
