Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs said today that anyone with an outstanding warrant should take care of it before it is too late.   Grubbs said that there are many occasions where people involved in other criminal activity refuse to take care of traffic or theft by check warrants.  As a result, law enforcement often times arrest them and find new offenses during the course of the arrest compounding their problems. 

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office announced that over the next several months that they will be focusing efforts towards reducing outstanding warrants. 

“There is an excessive amount of traffic warrants and theft by check warrants outstanding in Brown County,” stated Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs.  “We are encouraging those who may have any outstanding warrants to take care of them in order to avoid arrest.”

Arrest leads to further monetary obligations or loss such as posting a bond, wrecker fees for towed vehicles and loss of wages for missed work Grubbs said.  Within the next two months, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a warrant round up on several dates that will not be announced in advance according to Grubbs.

“Although we try to avoid this, often times serving these warrants require us to contact people on their jobs or in front of family and friends,” stated Grubbs.   “In order to avoid arrest on these dates or any other time, we ask that you take care of your outstanding warrants by contacting the appropriate court to work out payment for any outstanding fines.”
