The Brownwood ISD board of trustees voted unanimously Monday to name their new agricultural area off of Stephen F. Austin the Brownwood ISD Agriculture Science Center. The area currently includes the new hog barns and the newly completed ag barn.
The newly named center will also soon include a new facility that will help students in their study of livestock and agriculture. Although construction has not started, the board named this new facility the Gerald Thomas Pavilion in honor of the former ag teacher. Brownwood ISD Superintendent Dr. Reece Blincoe has said this new facility will include an exhibit area with restrooms and a concession area. No timeline has been set for construction.
Blincoe also told the school board Monday that Marvin DuBose of Texas Best Panels out of Lometa, Texas donated half of the cost of livestock panels for the newly constructed ag barn making a savings of more than $8800.
