At its regular meeting Monday night, the Early Independent School District board approved a contract with Brown County for the May 8 board election with one of the three places being contested.
Superintendent Brett Koch said incumbents Mike Kingston of place 4 and James Cooley, Jr. of place 5 are running unopposed and incumbent Ray Bertrand of place 3 will face Brain Smith in the election.
In other business, the board also approved accepting sealed bids for three portable buildings after rejecting all bids due to a discrepancy.
The board also accepted a $100,000 donation from the estate of Weldon Jack McClary and is visiting with the family members to discuss options for using the money. Unless something is decided differently, the donation is set up as a full-ride student scholarship.
A donation of $3,500 from the PTC to the primary campus was also accepted to be used for the accelerated reading program.
The board approved local company Quality Janitorial for custodial services for the district to begin June 1 and Eckert and Company of San Angelo to perform audit services for the district and Heartland Co-op.
The board also recognized EISD’s GT students who qualified for Texas Future Problem Solvers program.
The board will hold its next regular meeting Monday, April 19.
