blooddonorlogoUnited Blood Services West Texas is issuing a critical appeal for O negative blood donors. The supply of O negative blood is not sufficient to take care of area hospital patients. United Blood Services has relied on help from other cities within the UBS system for several weeks, but that help is no longer available.

The recent bad weather, colds and flu, and holiday vacations have all impacted the O negative supply. O negative donors are urgently requested to donate now. There is no substitute. United Blood Services cannot meet the needs of area patients without everyone’s generous support.

The requirements for donating are simple: You must be at least 16 years of age and be in good health. There are some height and weight requirement for donors between the ages of 16 and 22.

United Blood Services will be holding a blood drive on Saturday, December 5th at the Brownwood ISD Administration building located at 2707 Southside Drive in Brownwood.  There are currently multiple appointments available.

Donors may call 800-656-3267 or visit www.bloodhero.com to make a convenient appointment to donate.

Find the hero in you. Give blood at least 3 times a year.
