After more than 40 hours of standing with his hand on the playhouse, Brownwood High School student Zach Peterson walked away the winner with local resident Chuck Gebhardt coming in second place.

In years past, the story would end by the playhouse being delivered to the winner’s backyard, but this year was not typical.

Peterson had pledged to auction the playhouse and donate the money on behalf of his cousin and friend Shylah Cutbirth who was seeking experimental treatment for Muscular Dystrophy.

Fund raising organizers for Shylah ended up using the playhouse in a football square contest for the Brownwood Homecoming game last month. Whoever guessed the correct score of the game would take the playhouse home.

Some people bought a $50 square for themselves, but many people in the community bought a square on behalf of Chuck Gebhardt who was active in other fundraising activities for Shylah.

L.E. Fite made the donation with the winning score and Chuck’s name was on the winning square.  The Fire Department has volunteered to move the playhouse for Chuck.

This fundraiser, along with the other fundraising events, exceeded the amount needed for Shylah to take her MD treatment.
