Brownwood Lion #70 Josh Hernandez got the surprise of his life at the Brownwood Lion’s opener against Burnet Friday night. Coaches had Josh go out for the coin flip before the game in the middle of the field. After the coin toss, they kept Josh there so they could present a gift to help out Josh and his family.
Unbeknownst to Josh, auto dealer Lee Hoffpauir in conjunction with Brownwood High School donated a Polaris Ranger All-Terrain Vehicle which was driven out to meet him at mid-field. Coaches, players, and fans rallied around Josh during the mid field presentation that brought the crowd to their feet with applause and cheers.
Josh was paralyzed from the waist down in a vehicle accident earlier this year. The community has rallied together in several fund raising events to help the Hernandez family over the last few months. The new Polaris ATV is worth about $10,000.
