BMPA to Host Rock Climbing Wall at Brownwood Reunion Celebration

While at the 2011 Brownwood Reunion Celebration, enjoy the thrill of rock climbing and support a good cause. The Brownwood Municipal Police Association (BMPA) is a non-profit organization composed of Police Officers in good standing with the City of Brownwood, for the purpose of perpetuating the memory and spirit of Police Officers who have given their lives in the pursuit of duty. With the support of the community, BMPA members are able to promote competitive wages, benefits, and better working conditions within the police department. BMPA is designed to assert a wholesome influence educating and working with the citizens of Brownwood.
Grand Marshals Announced for Reunion Parade
Organizers for the Brownwood Reunion Celebration announced today that Weldon Wilson and Joyce Leidig will be the 2011 grand marshals for this year’s grand parade. Wilson has contributed valuable time and resources to the Brownwood Reunion since its inception in 2000. Without his help, the Reunion would not be what it is today. Leidig has been involved in the community through the Military & Family Support Group and is always the first one to volunteer to support any member of the military or their families.
Reunion Tickets Sell Fast at Business Showcase
According to Brownwood Reunion Celebration director Kim Peterson, over 1200 tickets were sold at the show while they offered a special one-time discount price. “We were busy all day selling tickets,” said Peterson. “It was a great show.” Reunion organizers offered three-day concert passes for a special price of $10 at the showcase for their event coming September 16-18 that features Eddie Money, Easton Corbin, Group 1 Crew, and many others.

Go Back to the 60’s with the Reunion Classic Car Show
“We have about 54 cars in this year’s show all from the 1960’s,” said organizer Donnie Seale. “Most of these cars have never been in the show before.” The car show is one of the most visited attractions during the Reunion and had more than 7000 attendees at last year’s event. Seale said that they are hoping for even more this year. “We expect 7000 to 10,000 people at the show this year,” Seale said. “We want everyone to come out and have a good time.”
Discount Reunion Concert Tickets Available Thursday
On Thursday, September 8th during the Chamber’s Business Showcase event at the Brownwood Coliseum, the three-day passes to the Reunion concerts will be on sale for only $10 each. The Brownwood Business Showcase/Taste of Brownwood event will take place from 10am – 6pm this Thursday with the special offer. Entry fee to the show is $2 per person, but complementary passes to the showcase are available in advance at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce located at 600 E. Depot Street.
Honor A Hero Parade to be Featured Once Again at Brownwood Reunion
All children are invited to sign up for the parade. Registration is free, and children are asked to dress in red, white and blue. The event will be honor both past and present members of the military and other heroes such as friends, firemen, policemen, EMTs, mentors, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and others. These heroes are asked to be in uniform when applicable and please be at the bleachers in front of the drive-thru at Citizens National Bank at 11:30, or they may choose to march with the children in the parade.

The 17th annual Brownwood Business Showcase was held Thursday and showcased about 70 local and area businesses, but Brownwood Reunion Celebration was the talk of the show as they offered a special discount on tickets.
The Lehnis Railroad Museum announced Thursday that Buster’s Concho, Colorado & Brazos Valley Railroad, a 7 1/2" gauge mini-railroad, will have its grand opening during the 2011 Brownwood Reunion Celebration September 16-18, 2011. The Martin & Frances Lehnis Railroad Museum is located at 700 E. Adams, Brownwood.
The Heartland Cruisers car club is once again organizing their Classic Car Show as one of the major events at the Brownwood Reunion Celebration. This year’s show will go right along with the Reunion’s “1960 Come Together” theme by displaying some classic cars from the era.
The Brownwood Reunion Celebration and the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to offer a one-time only special for this year’s Brownwood Reunion main stage concert tickets.
The Brownwood Reunion Celebration will once again highlight heroes who serve in the “Honor a Hero Parade.” The parade will take place Saturday, September 17th at 11:45am during the Brownwood Reunion Celebration.
