2013 Brown County Youth Fair Results: Rabbits

The rabbit show was held Wednesday at the 2013 Brown County Youth Fair with breeding rabbits judged at 3:00 p.m. and finished up with the market rabbits. Frank Farrow, an American Rabbit Breeders Association judge from Lufkin Texas, made sure that participants learned tips on how to show their rabbits and basics about their particular breeds.

Grand and Reserve Champions were chosen for both Meat and Breeding categories.  Junior and Senior Showmanship Awards were also presented.

2013 Brown County Youth Fair Results: Breeding Gilt

The 2013 Brown County Youth Fair continued on Wednesday morning with the breeding gilt show.  The Judge for Breeding Swine was Zachary Wilcox who is a county extension agent from Sweetwater, Texas.  Wilcox stated that he was originally from Rule and also raises pigs himself.

The 2013 Brown County Youth Fair continued Wednesday morning with the breeding Boer goat show.  Grand and reserve champion were awarded as well as showmanship awards.  The judge for this event was John Edwards of Stephenville.  Edwards raises sheep and is an embryologist.

Wednesday morning, the 2013 Brown County Youth Fair held the breeding goat show.   Grand and Reserve Champions were chosen for doe and buck.  Showmanship awards were also given. The Judge for the day was Harley Belk of Winters, Texas.  Belk also raises Angora goats.

2013 Brown County Youth Fair - Clothing Division Full Results and Style Show Photos

2013 Brown County Youth Fair Style Show took place Tuesday evening giving entrants a chance to show off their self-made clothing projects.

Entrants models outfits they personally sewed, which were judged earlier in the week on appearance and construction.  Each competitor was also judged on their modeling abilities as well.

Youth Fair Queen contestants Jordyn Senkirik, Kassidy Barker, Taylor Tomme, Logan Speck and Paige Goodwin handed out awards and modeled their own outfits as a portion their own quest for the title of Miss Brown County Youth Fair Association 2013.

Brown County Youth Fair Kicks Off With Home Economics Division - Photos

The 61st annual Brown County Youth Fair officially got underway Monday morning as 77 entries of clothing items were brought in and the judging began in the home economics division.

From 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., clothing was accepted at the Home Economics building.  These entries were then judged on appearance, as each entrant modeled their outfit for the panel of judges. Clothing items will also be judged Tuesday morning on the quality of their construction.

2013 Brown County Youth Fair Schedule

IMG_1386The 2013 Brown County Youth Fair is just two weeks away and the Brown County Fair Association released the full schedule of events for this year’s fair.

The livestock show and judging will kick off Wednesday, January 9th and will run through Saturday, January 12th in the youth fair barns.  The home economics division will begin on Monday, January 7th in the home economics building.

The fair will draw to a close on Saturday, January 12th during the awards and premium sale and the crowning of Miss Brown County Fair Association.

In 2012, the Youth Fair broke several records during the auction bringing in more than $250,000 for area youth.

Brown County Rodeo Association Receives UPRA Top Paying Rodeo Honors

Brown County Rodeo Association was recently named the fifth top paying rodeo in the United Professional Rodeo Association (UPRA).

Brown County Rodeo Steering Committee members gathered Thursday evening to announce the UPRA awards received which included #5 Top Paying Rodeo and Top Paying Rodeo Finalist.  The Rodeo featured Terry Walls Rodeo Stock and paid out awards totaling $44,200.

Lifetime Service Buckles Presented to Jarvis, Sweatman, and Stewart

Three men who combined have 160 years of service were awarded Lifetime Supporter belt buckles commemorating over 40 years each of dedicated service to the Brown County Youth Fair.

Putter Jarvis, Delton Sweatman and Bill Stewart were awarded custom made belt buckles Tuesday evening by the Brown County Youth Fair Association.
