2013 Brown County Youth Fair: Home Economics – Full Results
The 61st Brown County Youth Fair hosted their home economics competition once again this year with a vast array of entries. Participants entered in several divisions including canning, food, clothing, and crafts. The clothing was entered and judged on Monday and Tuesday of the fair, wrapping up with the style show on Tuesday. The canning, food, and crafts were submitted and judged at the Home Economics Building on Thursday and were on display Friday. Awards and recognitions were given for overall high point earners as well as grand and reserve champion in each category. High point earners, grand and reserve champions had the opportunity to participate in the auction on Saturday to wrap up the fair. 2013 Brown County Youth Fair Awards and Premium Sale Results - Photos
The 2013 Brown County Youth Fair wrapped up Saturday with the annual awards and premium sale and the crowning of this year’s Miss Brown County Fair Association. The evening began with Kassidy Barker of Early FFA being crowned Miss BCFA. Top Buyer awards for 2012 were presented to Landmark Life, Quality Body Works, Bob’s LP Fuel, and Bostick Auto & Truck Sales.
Kassidy Barker Crowned 2013 Miss Brown County Fair Association
A few months of hard work and competition between five young ladies came to an end as Kassidy Barker, representing Early FFA, was crowned Miss Brown County Fair Association 2013 at the annual awards and premium sale. This year’s newly crowned Miss Brown County Fair Association was awarded a $2000 scholarship from the Brown County Fair Association, a traveling trophy for her school, a trophy to keep as her own and various other gifts from local merchants. Kassidy is the daughter of Casey and Heather Barker of Blanket and the sister of Hayden Barker. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Cherita Barker of Early, Tom and Fran Brown of Colorado, Dale and Brenda Hicks of Brownwood, and Gary and Pati Barton of Coleman. She is a senior at Early High School and a member of the Blanket United Methodist Church.
2013 Brown County Youth Fair: Ag Mechanics Results
The 61st Brown County Youth Fair began winding down on Saturday wrapping up judging with the ag mechanics competition. Divisions included trailers, ag equipment, shop equipment, and recreational. See winners below as well as photos of each entry and participants:
2013 Brown County Youth Fair Results: Horse Division
The 61st annual Brown County Youth Fair horse division judging took place on Saturday morning. The judge for the event was Lindi Pernokas from Stephenville, Texas. Pernokas and her husband Nick have a custom saddlery business, Pernokas Saddlery. Nick is the author of a saddle reference guide entitled “All the Pretty Saddles.” Division superintendent Julie Gribble managed the ring during the event. Gribble has been a mentor with the horse club for many years.
2013 Brown County Youth Fair: Photos from Third Day of Livestock Shows
The third day of livestock showing at the 61st Annual Brown County Youth Fair featured the market goat, market steer and heifer shows. The audience for shows continued to draw good crowds, including lots of family members and friends of those participating. Judges for the day were Chase McFall of Ozona for the market goat division and Greg Gruben of Snyder for the market steer and breeding heifer divisions. In addition to these livestock shows, the home economics division foods, canning and crafts entries were on display to the public.
